The Bookstore is a self-supported retail operation owned and operated by the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN).
The Bookstore's Mission is to:
Provide the goods and services essential to the educational process in a timely and cost effective fashion, promote the University on a local, regional, and national basis by providing quality custom merchandise, paid for by the Bookstore, provide support for the University and Student Programs through donations and selected funding as deemed appropriate by the Associated Students of the University of Nevada.
Where do Bookstore revenues go?
Since the store is operated by the Associated Students, the ultimate decision as to what to do with the extra funds lies with them through the ASUN's fiscal allocation process. A variety of student based activities have been supported with some recent examples including equipment and remodeling for the Wellness Center, creation of student seating section of the Lawlor Events Center, Student Escort Service, Graduate Students Association, Distinguished Teachers Award, the climbing wall at Lombardi Recreation, and a variety of scholarships. In the last three years, the Bookstore has provided over $1,000,000 in benefits to the campus community.
Recently the Bookstore has spent a vast portion of its budget to help fund the new Joe Crowley Student Union.
Who owns the ASUN Bookstore?
The ASUN Bookstore is a self-sustaining operation, owned and controlled by the Associated Students of the University of Nevada. This cooperative arrangement with the university has been in practice since 1951.
